It was here I got to experience a different form of physical preparation and conditioning. I also was fortunate enough to once again compete at an International Armed Forces level with in various shooting disciplines.

“I had been dealing with ongoing groin pain and while I was on the right path with my rehab and training fully with Bristol Rugby the pain was still ongoing, and I was unable to cut hard and was hesitant accelerating/decelerating sharply. Post a screening, Dan worked on getting me moving better with control. We did this through various movements activating my inner core and through the extensive ‘lunge series’ this activated my lower body/core and got my body moving, it subsequently improved my range of movement in my hip, created more space internally, which improved my range of motion with my squat. The sessions I have been able to complete with Dan have varied greatly due to my ongoing training load and match schedule. Dan has been able to adapt these sessions knowing when to push me hard and improve my endurance or on the other hand work on active recovery and maintaining good range of motion allowing me to train harder and perform better post sessions. He is an incredible motivator and always extremely patient when going through new exercises, his incredible personal functionality means he can give perfect examples of how the exercises should be completed and exactly what muscles should be activated. While my groin pain was a priority Dan has also improved my neck strength and range of motion. He has reduced inflammation in my left ankle. Relieved tendinitis in my left hamstring through glute activation and better control. An asset to any professional team or individual looking for a competitive advantage.”

Since my arrival at Bristol Bears this season 2018/19 I’ve engaged Dan Cleal for external rehabilitation work for a recent injury.
Dan’s assessment and detailed explanation of his work in the initial meeting explaining the areas and improvements that could be made has made a difference to my rugby season so far.
With regular visits to Dan in the past several months I’ve noticed that I’m self correcting my body alignment and have a better awareness of my body mechanics during rugby sessions.
Not only is Dan assisting with my rehabilitation physically but I’m also being educated as to why and how his methods are beneficial to my improvement.
I highly recommend the services of Dan Cleal for any potential clients looking to improve themselves.

2012 - “I have been working with Daniel Cleal who has been focusing on my posture and movement efficiency, making sure everything is working as effectively as it can. With Daniel I have also done a lot of corrective exercise and seen massive improvements in my basic posture through working with him. The guy is a miracle worker!”
2018 – “Thanks so much Dan for everything you have done for me the past 8 years. It’s people like you who have made my Olympic dream even possible for me and I appreciate it so much!
You are one of a kind and so knowledgeable in your work, I would recommend you to anyone! A major sports team would really benefit from someone as knowledgeable and passionate as you…seriously, thank you.”
Emily Sarsfield - GB & Olympic Skier
“Dan delivered a Bodyweight Training Workshop recently to all PT Staff within the Air Station and it’s safe to say he blew our minds! The knowledge this man has is insane. This was predominantly a practical workshop with a classroom piece at the beginning and education passed continuously. We all really enjoyed the day and are looking forward to incorporating the passed knowledge into our own line of work and training. His ability to assess the human body and rectify its faults is ridiculously impressive. One of my Staff is carrying an injury and Dan was able to quickly source the problem and provide help. Dan is genuine and passionate coach that really cares about what he does and I’d defy anyone to find a more accomplished expert in this domain.”

As a professional female tennis player, playing on the WTA Tour for the last 10 years I have had many experiences with a variety of the best health and fitness professionals in the industry over the course of my career. I had the opportunity of working with Dan leading up to and during the Australian Open 2011, several months after my surgery in May for a torn ACL suffered prior to the French Open 2010. Dan took the time to fully understand what I needed in order to compete at a high level again. He was able to quickly observe deficiencies I had developed after my knee surgery and to align my body so I could function optimally again. He provided me with a range of stretches and exercises to aid my final rehabilitation process, to get me from a point where I wasn’t able to run, to in the space of an hour where I could! Dan has given me an array of tools that I use to improve myself as an athlete on a daily basis and to keep my body injury free and functioning at its best. In my opinion Dan is one of the best I have worked with and I am honoured to have had the opportunity to work with him.”
